Life Update: Uhhh It's Like 5am In The Morning

I have a midterm at 3pm today, but for the most part, I get busy at 6... which is just an hour and a half away. Boy oh boy do I feel like i've lost focus. Haha, it's so funny! Tim really flies. I remember when i used to talk about AP English Lit homework in this blog :) Times do change, and people all grow.

It always feels like i'm not doing enough. And it feels like it'll just stack up. It's really funny though that it doesn't. I followed intrigue and fascination, but some how it dumped me back here. Well, I'm kinda glad I ended up here- thanks you.

I find that I like to type out things when I feel stressed. "Stressed." What the f does that even mean? The dictionary tells us:

the physical pressure, pull, or other force exerted on one thing by another; strain.

Honest to god, now that I'm in actual engineering classes, I hear the word stress and think of bridges and shit :P. I really am trying to get my internet up to speed, because then It's photo upload time :) Yeah, I know I've made claims like this before...

Life Update // Vannie is playing “trash,” Dexter is playing HON, and …

everyone is more or less beginning to filter out of the garage- or at least they were. The title and first line of this post were written a few hours ago.

Earlier this evening I had just finished painting my room with Alicia and Brian and Vannie, and the moment I sit down to rest in the kitchen, *ring ring chime…* And I pick up the phone. “Whatcha doing? ___ Okay ___ we’re coming over.” And pretty soon Dexter, Kalvin, and the rest, populate the garage as I move the Accord into the driveway. Tables and a chairs go up; people sit on speakers, wood blocks, and the radio chimes in from the shelves.

It was what I always hoped for; I have always had the dream that the garage in my house would be the the equivalent of the basement of That 70’s Show, or the tree house in The Simpsons for my friends and I. It makes me really happy to take a step back from the situation, and just see a bunch of friends having a good time – smiling, talking – in my garage.

I’m a bit sad that I won’t have a “common room” next year. Dorming is over and I don’t think I’ll ever have the opportunity to really just get together in a large group and do nothing happily :P. I hope that next year, all of us local stragglers, when not couch surfing at VDC or bumming it in someone’s apartment, end up in my garage. I had no idea why it’s such a big thing to me, to be quite honest. Deep down I just want that kind of TV show hangout spot I guess. I’m so excited to buy 100 feet of Christmas lights, an string the rafters of the garage. Too bad it’ll only be done till after summer ends. Oh well, winter break ain’t too far away :) . “Life Update”– Video Thursday

I can’t recall the last time I watched such a large amount of videos online. Today is Thursday of my first college spring break and I feel sick and burnt out from being out everyday, and night haha. It’s kinda nice taking a break like this though- not gonna lie. It reminds me of when I was younger, with ALL the time in the world to just lounge around and cruise, not surf, the internet. Cruise… that’s right, I had THAT much time to relax :) .

So my phone’s vibrate functions just broke, which is upsetting. Really though, It makes me think. We keep our phones on vibrate to be non-intrusive. It’s like all my ninja and subtly just got taken away. I’m kind of crazy annoyed at those tween girls on busses who have their text alert sounds loud as a car-horn. I remember once, some chick’s text sound was the beginning of Sean Kingston's "Fire Burning." I was in a Singapore light rail going to the mall or something, but I swear I passed through purgatory with that girl. I heard “SUM BAWDY CAHL NINE WAN WAN” maybe every 10 seconds to 30. Main point is thought, I don’t like being that disturbing person on the bus, train, plane, whatever… so to have my vibrate die on me, makes me feel as though my phone is un usable in a lot of circumstances. UNLESS! I wanted to have it on silent, but that would require me to periodically check my phone like I had OCD. And to be honest, I don’t want to look like insecure OCD texting guy either.

My bloging went down the shitter when my life excclerated a while ago, and I was to busy to keep up with posting. Looking back on that is a bit of a bummer.I really do enjoy blogging, and I reaaaly enjoy photo documenting my life. It’s something really cool and special being able to peer back into your life, as though your autobiography was being written as you lived it :) . I think I’m going try to post at least once a week- a modest goal. Sunday I’ll try and get pictures of spring break up, and a day by day on the adventures had <3.

The first time I heard this song, It was love. I hadn’t even understood the lyrics yet, but I knew from the first time I heard this song, it was going to be love.

The lyrics play perfectly with the melody. The song is heartbreaking, but it’s a feeling of acceptance at the same time. It’s like hopeless love. Whenever I hear this song, I can’t help but think of hopeless, self-destructive, beautiful romance.

Song Of The Day: Coldplay – “Life in Technicolor” (i & ii)

When I hear this song, I can’t help but feel small. But it’s an amazing feeling. The music is just so pure and filling, it’s almost overwhelming. I remember one time I went running late, late at night in Aldrich Park. It was cold, and dark, but the paths were all illuminated by orange lanterns. I started running into the park, and the cold air hit my face. As the the guitar’s and strings started I was just lost in the moment.

And even just the other day, with all the windows down and the roof open, I had the same feeling, just a strong as that night. I was driving down Main St. with a bright blue sky and sun warming my skin, wind speeding past me.

I think at the heart of this song, it’s the story about promise and potential. It starts of so earnest, and so optimistic, and it just grows, and becomes unstoppable. Just recently I got to hear the extended version ii, posted below. I hope I can give you the same kind of feeling I had with this song one day. I want to give you that feeling of unstoppable happiness.

One of the first bands I truly fell in love with was Something Corporate. They were really the soundtrack to my teenage years. I remember getting into them during high school and finding out they had broken up long ago. In my heartbreak though I found out about Andrew McMahon's side project Jack's Mannequin and was pretty content.

For my 18th birthday I got a gift I will never forge from my friend Armando. Something Corporate had reunited, and they had their first concert as headline of Bamboozle Left 2010... I know this isn't a SoCo post but I just wanted to let that shoot out.

They lyrics to this song are interesting. I think I understand them, but I'm not 100. But regardless, the emotion in the song is something that i really like, something that can hit home with me.

So, I have my SPOP interview tomorrow.

Instructions:
Bring in a picture (photo, drawing, etc) that is meaningful to you. You will have time during your interview to explain why it is meaningful to you.

I know I wrote one day about how my photo hard drive crashed one day. It was really upsetting. Maybe It was a good thing though. When I think of a meaningful photo, I think of some kind of shot of the sunset, or one where… I’m in it with my brother. In Zac’s car is a photo of us from MESA Day senior year. It’s the same one I sent into my UC Berkeley and LA appeals. I don’t have it anymore, but then a few minutes ago I remembered. Hey! It’s up on the blog, I remember writing about that day! I jumped on and on the first page, it’s an entry about Zac hahah! I start moving back through posts and, it’s pretty intense seeing your life on paper, so to speak, with all these photos of sunsets, people laughing. It’s all very nostalgic. I like it. I look on them and think things like, why don’t I ride my bike more. I stopped blogging because I ran out of time. I think I just realized, I should be making time then.

Dexter writes pretty much everyday. I always look over and he’s smiling or has this face of deep thinking on. I think to myself how cool it is that he's committed to posting as often as possible. Dude’s got a busy schedule, but he finds time no matter what. I want to try posting almost every day now, too. Thanks Dexter.

Right now I’m checking out the album Un by Dan Black. It’s really good, like a mix of hip-hop, passion pit, vamp weekend, and pure awesome. Above is the song that got me hooked, and here’s a link to the song I’m currently listening to.

So, I just finished day 2 of my 30 day tumblr challenge. I was inspired by my boo to do it. I was reading over hers and learned some interesting things I hadn’t known before. I decided I wanted to use the 30 day challenge as a way to adjust my self back into blogging, and to find out a bit more about myself.

I never see Zac as much as I used to. I won’t lie- we don’t talk as much as we used too. We each have a lot of things going on in our lives that demand attention. Today we met and recapped the past few weeks. I was happy. I was happy to be sitting across a table from him like old times, talking about where we are and where we wanna be, the people we meet, and the things we have planned. I was happy walking with him in the cold night under orange street lights like we did all one summer. 2 am, smoke in the air- those moments really made me who I am.

I love my brother and hope that as time goes on, well see each other more frequently. I hope that we will stop recapping, because we already know what's happening.

I used to post photography all the damn time! Hell, the only reason I stopped blogging in the first place was because I reached max capacity on the blogspot server. here are some shots I’ve recently taken. I hope you like them;

Cleaning out my room, was something I wanted to do for all the wrong reasons. Initially, I wished to throws useless things away, and triage the trinkets and keepsakes I wanted to take with me to my dorm in September.

It’s unreal… to say the least, handling the physical remnants of your whole life.

My baby girl is away for the week at her ASB camp up in Santa Barbra- she’s still in high school. Were on semi-limited contacted while she has a good time, which is all good with me. It kind of gives me the opportunity to meditate on my own. I’ve been sick for 2 days, and decided to clean, the morning of, because my allergies were already stuffed; the dust wouldn’t bother me much if at all this way. Wow, elementary school yearbooks, what a trip! I was so cute, haha! I remember making my first best friends. His name was Victor, and his Dean. I recall moving school and getting to start to process all over again in a year. Zoids my dad bought me on his trips to Japan for work. 10 years old, cold winter day, dad’s home with a big box. Such a good feeling. I didn’t even want to brush my teeth, i wanted to start building. I still do that with new toys, because im gross.

500 and change photos from middle school. I’m blessed to have been given so many disposable cameras. I’m waiting to look those over.

Guitar amp, the first summer me and Kalvin got really close. High school drama was new. Blah blah dating, blah blah, friend rules, so much fun, huh… Getting to build some serious friendships over some serious problem, seriously. Slang, cliques, dances.

A few days ago if i looked at all my things, id say to you, “yeah, all these have some kinda story, or whatever, or look cool.” I’d want to keep it all.

It’s kind of trash though.

A stage? No, a testament.

You think the things you hold on to will stand the test of time, and you’re right, they would, if only they could stand the test of you. The memories attached to some toys are burned into my mind, but i know without them physically there, they might kind of fade off. And there is a good chance that they will.

That’s ok. It’s all ok.

Shitty days, Ex-girlfriends, forgotten friends, close calls, wasted money, awesome movies, great food, weird nights alone, weird nights with 2 friends, stray animals, new parks, favorite shirts, torn jeans, what was on the radio a while ago.

That’s ok. It’s all ok to forget. Nor harm, really.

Its the memories that made me today. To remember them is fun, but not religious. You remember by acting the way you do; I get this idea now; I haven’t changed, i have grown, not to the person i wanted to be, because for maybe just a moment, I already was. I am.

i have real focus problems, and as of late they seem to have exponentially increased in their intensity. i should be doing chapter 8 (introduction to economic growth and instability) for ap economics right now, but i just cant get myself to focus. the weekend and the school week so far has been alright. I'm glad the onslaught of 3-day weekends is coming to an end. they make me feel like I'm getting behind in productiveness, because i either waste those days by lounging around, or do something that doesn’t directly benefit my school “career.” i feel stupid and wasteful when i do that. the screen shot i used above^ of me talking to armando about economics homework was from mine and Armando's aim log. that thing is like 5 mb’s of pure text now- ridiculous.; it goes back to Friday, July 25, 2008 & takes 3 minutes to load all the text. that's right, 3 minutes.

I didn’t really talk about valentine’s day, lets start with that.
didn’t do anything extraordinary, just a quick rondevu at the park to meet the miss’s & exchange valentine’s day cards :3 it was also Asian new year, so she had to attend to family matters- we already scheduled a “make up” day so to speak, so yay!

on Saturday christ, armando, and i, were all over at zacs house doing bike matinee. i overhauled my headset and realized had a fucked fork. it was a pretty lame discovery, but prompts me to get a new frame soon; how bitter sweet. i love my bike, but a new frame would be an amazing quality increase. i plan to pain it like my old bike, giving it a legacy or something cheesy like that haha! in the process we also removed my brake line cables (3rd picture), which were ripping whole in all my jeans, grrr!

sunday i cleaned my room and the house. freaking intense! i haven’t had that much floor space in so long! i even cleaned up my work desk (what? yeah! that is considered clean! don’t make fun of me D:) i also im finally making good use of my extra corkboard by hanging the card vannie made me for victory day.

last Monday…hmm wow, yesterday. yesterday felt so long ago! anyway, yesterday i went to ihop to have a board meeting. then the rest of the board came over work on scrapbooking and video editing. we didn’t get much done. mostly played games and just hung out! watched the first episode of Glee, and did the whole OMGPOP thing. overall it was allot of fun and a great way to wrap up the last 3-day weekend of February. today i went to buy the Contra album by vampire weekend because i finally got some extra money. they're out of stock so im going back next week for it. it’s a damn good album and want it for my physical cd collection. i ended up getting Manners (Passion Pit) & the latest Deadmau5 CD as well. I finally paid Alicia back for the black jacket i bought using her card, too.

“Life Update” – Night Ride to Cha for Tea

I haven’t had a good night ride in a long time. The last extensive ride i went on was Red Eye a few weeks back, an that’s at 4 am. I consider that morning already :P . Well any who, the rout for this ride was from my house down main, turn on MacArthur, then campus drive all the way down. Campus drive at night is pretty crazy. Super foggy, the sounds of frogs, feels like a country road through a marsh and dead woods. fucking magical. It was only Kalvin, Fishtan, and I tonight, but it was still a Blastoise. We all got food, and just talked for a good few hours., just about random stuff, enjoying being in high school and whatever. Fish and I got Almond Milk Tea, fucking good. Christ got it hot, and i got it iced with boba, while we split a spicy chicken entre no homo. kalvin did his usual thai tea and chicken thang, and even snagged some yogurt.

Here are some general picture of the night. Unfortunately, on the way back i said something about graduation and Kalvin got a flat, LOL KALVIN… yeah. i had a tube on me, which ironically kal taught me to always have, which was funny because he was out of them :3

but yeah, overall a really great night. hopefully we, and maybe a few others, can do this next Friday night if nothings going down.

“Media Talk” – Water Guns and Whatnot

so i was reading around random blogs when i was reading one post about dubstep, which reminded me of this video below, and then OH SHIT! i forgot i said i was going to do a dedicated video post.
when if first saw this the only thing i really though was… well more or less, “OMFG GAWD BROOTL” the cinematography on this bitch is A all the way. the dubstep really fits the mood. way too short! moar!

Day at the Seaside – A cool 1st person montage of a day at the beach. it makes me all summer nostalgic, that it does.
Cracker Bag – a very well written short film about “the seemingly small experiences of childhood, that affects us for the rest of our lives.” highly recommended if you have time.
Freezelight Magic Forest – an amazing little stop motion, hi exposure film; only a couple seconds. click it damn you!
Greg Illingworth Mongoose Edit – fucking nuts! one of the sickest BMX films I've seen in a good long time.
Tokyo to Osaka Teaser – how can i begin to explain this. it’s the drums…these track bike riders are balls to the wall. Tokyo to Osaka is a good 400 miles; through rain and traffic? you know it.
Wizard Smoke – a trippy slow mo skate video featuring colored powders glistening in the light, ahhhhhhh!
Sky – a beautiful time-lapse of Dubai dedicated to the director of friend. if you have never seen anything regarding Dubai before, this may just leave you paralyzed.
Empire – a sweet vid capturing the messenger lifestyle, in short. the track is by Parts and Labor, so woot woot to that!

this video was pretty f’n boss. a chill slice of life film about some guys just riding around. more than anything i really like that song they play, and i really think the flare thing is a cool idea. i would like to try it one day :) i saw a dude with Nike Dunks in the video who rode with out cages or straps; THUG LIF3!

“Music Talk” – Upwards of 1,000

So, as predicted, my home town was hit with another storm today. I love the rain, but i hate getting my socks wet. While mom and i were driving home from fish taco Tuesday today, i noticed another thing the rain has done. Everything seems to be more vibrant and greener than usual. Big ups too the rain for letting all the plants, trees, and fields flourish in SoCal.

In about… 5 days, my iTunes music count has jumped up about 1000 songs, and will jump another thousand in the upcoming week. That's a lot of music to listen to! About 160 hours to be precise, or 7 STRAIT DAYS (24 hours). I’ve been desperately trying to keep up with the many music blogs i follow & my own musical exploration & band discovery. But enough small talk, I'm going to try and squeeze in some notable tracks & artists. BTW! a new mixtape is in the works that will be released in a few days time, so sit tight!

LETS GET STARTED!

kk, starting off with one of my favorite bands, Vampire Weekend (MySpace.com/vampireweekend); This month they released their new album, Contra, which contained their catchy single “Horchata.” I really dig the album art for “Horchata,” & the song itself is very well layered. Contra over all is rather coherent & has plenty of hits on it you should check out, like “White Sky.” The last song of the album, “I Think Ur a Contra” (popup link) is really striking and made come to a standstill the first time I heard it. This album is highly, highly recommended from me, especially if you enjoy indie rock with slight pop elements & subtle electronic backbeats (like heard in the Radio Dept., but not as heavily).

Camera Obscura (MySpace.com/cam…); this is a pretty amazing indie/pop band my sister introduced me to via one of her colleagues. I can’t really describe the music, but it’s good. Real Good. I also can’t help but picture Zooey Deschanel *melts* singing the lead for this band, as her voice is kind of similar to that of the lead singers. She also has the image,

but i mean I'm not surprised, as she is the poster girl of independent at the moment, much like how Michael Cera is the poster boy. I recommend you check out their tracks “You Told A Lie” (embedded) & “French Navy” (a music video that feels allot like (500) days of summer…hmmm).

The Octopus Project (MySpace.com/theo…); this is a really great,super duper, experimental /electronic /pop band i began listening to a year or so ago. just recently though i heard from their EP Golden Beds. There’s one song in particular i want to share form it though; “Wood Trumpet” (popup player) Enjoy!

Dif Juz (MySpace.com/difjuz); I'm not going to bother going into a lot of detail for this band. In short, if you like New Order, The Pillows, or instrumentals in general, this would be a great band to check out. Look for their album Soundpool, it’s a great set to have on in the background.

Florence and the Machines (MySpace.com/florencean…); tasty tasty Britt-alt/pop, come get your tasty, tasty Britt alt/pop here! Wow just amazing. I only learned of this band maybe a week ago. All the songs are so amazingly emotionally charged they definitely send you on a journey. For some reason i think of Regina Spektor crossing with Lily Allen. This is definitely a band to check out if you haven't already. I recommend the track “You've Got The Love” (embedded below’ p.s. its a music video).

Sequoia Arms; first off this is a hardcore band, so if you’re not into that kind of thing, i suggest you move on to the next band i talk about. anyway back to SA. i just wanted to post a track up from these guys (and girl) because i thought it was particularly interesting! Their EP is pretty good (snag it here), but the lead female vocal isn’t in the band any longer (hence the reason for me not posting a MySpace link). Listen to the mad riffs going on in “Sequoia Song” after DL’ing the EP!

You Say Party! We Say Die! (MySpace.com/yousaypartywesaydie); hey another female headed band! fuckin’s sa-weet! they categorize themselves as punk/new wave, yay new wave; this band has a really nice rock element reminiscent of the B-52’s mixed in with a bit of The Sounds & The Killers! Mmmm…. The

Sounds *drools*. Check out their track “Laura Palmer’s Prom” (so good, reminds me of The Killers ALOT)(embedded) & “Monster” (popup player) if you want even mooooar.

Debussy; for those of you who know me pretty well, you know i am quite the classical music lover. One of my favorite composers is Debussy, who wrote “Clair De Lune.” AND HOLLY SHIT! apparently “Clair De Lune” is in Twilight. This has slightly persuaded me to watch this movie… this movie that EVERYONE HAD TALKED ABOUT FOREVER *frustrated grumble*. w/e listen to “Clair De Lune” and get lost.

Freelance Whales (myspace.com/freelancewhales); so i literally heard of this band a few hours ago and like em’ from their first impressions! this is a indie/pop/experimental band that makes use of harmonizers and banjoes. ITS AMAZING! their sound is really hard to describe or compare. I'm going to make a stretch and says it has the composition elements of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! mixed in with some early The Octopus Project, & THE FORMAT; Some songs go so far as to remind me of Owl City, The Postal Service, and Passion Pit all at once, like “Hannah” (popup & embedded below) <3, or “Starring” (popup). instead of recommending you more tracks, you should really just check out the live session they did with WOXY here & enjoy, or just raid the MySpace!

ok *panting* that was a really long post. I’m sure that's a good couple hours if not 2 days of music to taste, and a good 2 weeks worth to submerse yourself in :) like what you heard? spread it around & let amazing music be heard all around the world!

“Life Update” – on the precipice of finals

So, sup reader. It’s been some time since I've posted anything. I have been kind of caught up in school work, as semester finals start this Wednesday. Recently , it’s been a heavy, mind fucky cram to raise up my grades, frantic due to how close to the line I'm cutting it.

Recently the weather has been storm after storm and i’m loving it. California has been in drought for far too long. I missed you, rain.

i got a lot of nice footage from the last storm a week ago, which i plan on compiling into a short Cinéma-vérité type thing. I’ll upload to Vimeo & post back here, most likely. But actually, another storm is about to arrive, so i might scrap the footy from that last storm for this upcoming one if i get better shots.

I’m almost done with Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, and it’s very intense. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the book, it is a psychoanalytical murder mystery & social commentary, viewing the internal torment produced by one’s own psyche attempting to cope with murder. The main character, whose name is long and Russian (but luckily has the nickname Rodya) transgresses moral law by killing someone he justifies as societal dead weight. He pretty much loose his shit the entire book, having dreams about people murdering horses in the street… I plan on doing a second run later on. But, on a related note, I finished Voltaire’s Candide, and have marked it down as my favorite book read in literature class next to The Stranger and then A Heart of Darkness.

But,focusing more on the day to day events of my specific life… not to much has been going on. Just the everyday little pleasure of being in school. Well, more like being with friends. Last week Brian created a superhero named SEA-MAN. I won’t bother going into that in detail. HAHA! speaking of Brian, this fools a total ninja; he inserted the word penis in place of planet on one of Alex’s physics tests. Ruper printed out a good 3 class sets before noticing- PApapapaPOWNDED!

Last Saturday, 2 days ago, me and a few fellas went to a kiwins dance. It was pretty nice and i spent most of my night with one girl in particular. Things between us are starting to speed up but I'm not sure what pages we’re on, so the whole deal is more & more on my mind. However, it is by no means something I mind ;). Also Brian & I got a new master combo going on now; Double-double w/ chopped chilies, animal style fries, strawberry lemonade, & extra jalapeños. I am also starting to become more accustomed to the Thai Tea kalvin is always ordering.

Anyway, i got a monster crap load of music to talk about, some amazing videos, and cool tech to discuss later on in a day or two (if i get time). till then, stay frost reader, and if you have finals… well all i can say is, “les ‘reck this shit.”

i love my quirks and take great pride in looking back on my growth as a person; only a few people know that before i settled on engineering as a career, i fantasized working in the medical, musical, and design fields. design field? not just any, bitch! interior design hahah. when i was littler, i used to go to IKEA with my mom and sister, play the Sims, and look at furniture in target religiously. I had fun letting my Sims live, but building the houses and decorating them was where the technical precision and passion was. well, at one point, i decided to try and get a job at IKEA as a designer (i was like 13). there was something satisfying about making furniture, the objects that decorate our physical homes. Home is a very important place.

Well, now im just rambling, damn all! :) my main point was i loved IKEA as a kid & wanted to work there at one point. when i came to the realization that i was being pulled towards a different path, i kept a sweet spot in my hear for all my designer’s past memories. over the summer of 2009, i made a big plan to go to IKEA with all the guys for 99cent breakfast. it sadly, never went down. present day, a good 7 months later, i saw (500) days of summer and how they had an IKEA scene in it (i pretty much freak’d as i saw myself in a movie). that night after the movie, i was up with Zac, and all of a sudden it was, “hey lets get breakfast Sunday; IKEA.” and fuck yeah, 7 months later i finally got that breakfast with the guys!

it was a gorgeous day, and at 5 it started raining peacefully. at IKEA we bought these cool hats, and later showed em’ off at the mall…

all in all, the way was pretty memorable, and i have an epic Viking hat and beard as a memento; days like these are the ones i will miss most when i grow up to be an adult; i am imagining Ben Folds playing “Still Fighting It” (pop-up link) right about now. That song always gets to me. have a nice MLK Day reader! and if your in soco, enjoy the storms while you’re at it :)

It’s true! there is no pause button on life. That’s why procrastinating is so bad. I haven’t updated for, I'm guessing almost 3 to 4 weeks. Why? well as soon as i let one post get stuck in draft hell, they just started piling. There's been so much going on in life that there hasn’t been time to talk about it, just live it really haha. but today, i have time <3. the next few posts on the blog will be vague recollections! but for now, a quick bullet hit of the past month :)

TODAY: Brian came over to do a DJ session. by the way, Brian got a 2004 white Celica last Friday (1/8/2010) & its a beauty. Marilyn got one recently too, hers is a 2001 & midnight blue. Anyway, today we got to try a more or less complete setup. we had some midi issues but just kind of blew past the for a good 3 hour set. side note; Brian brought over 3 full sacks of Mexican candy & mom likes mex candy!

YESTERDAY/&THURSDAY: I went to my brother’s house for the first time in about a month- hardly got to visit him over winter break because i was preoccupado with family. anyway, we watched 500 Days of Summer, and it was awesome. The day before i changed my bike grips. I miss spending time with Zac, but hopefully ill be more free to kick it with my best friend (& do reviews on moviessss).

SOMETIME IN THE PAST WEEK: I ate a bunch of nummy (HOLLY TITTY FUCKING… ROASTED BANANA GELATOOOO) food & received my finishing pieces of DJ equipment, great success! I also have begun my FASFA & bought Crime and Punishment, by Dostoevsky, and Candide, by Voltaire. I met a very nice girl working at Borders, who also recommended Meditations on First Philosophy, by René Descartes. A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius is still on my list of things to read. I never have a list of things to read.

IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS: i saw my “sister” Terry for the first time in a few months! it was great catching up :) I got to see Michi, and exchange Christmas presents with her too! (picture below with Zac’s awesome gift). in the process, i also got to try Souplantation for the first time, and golly is it goooood. the cousins also let some time in the first week of the 3, but they’ll be covered later. also, here is a pic of the DJ equipment mentioned in the previous paragraph.

that’s a wrap for now- but there will be about 4653482368592345 more posts coming that address thing’s that i didn’t have time to talk about like: COLLEGE APPLICATIONS, CHRISTMAS, LAS VEGAS AND THE GRAND CANYON, NEW YEARS, MY FAMILY VISITING, ALL OF GOD DAMN BREAK, ANDREW’S REUNION PARTY, VANNIES BBQ… and a bunch of music, mix tapes, movies, technology, and, of course, photos (so many…). btw did i mention i saw AVATAR in 3D IMAX, SO WORTH IT! and yeah… ill write more later; i have to attend to laundry.

“Life Update” – a broken Eudoxa, taco Tuesday

09, 21, 35, 49. you look at the clock and realize it’s getting closer to the next hour. you know your going to be asleep in class, and behind in homework the next day. yet… some how you hardly care until the consequences come up. that just how i am, and i hope that i wont be like this in college. well at least not too bad haha…

<< pretty cool spoke card, eh? just made it over the weekend! last saturday my final ACT rolled by. ill keep it brief. i wrote strong as hell, and answered the first 3 sections more or less completely. science came around and knocked me down- i may or may not do better then last time, but i feel that i gave it my best shot for the most part. later in the day i went to do chores with omar and zac, enjoying the last days of rain, only after trying out a new Indian place with mom and Alicia. the weather was appropriate for the passing of my grandmother, who went very peacefully, and my sister’s personal problems i won’t mention on the goddamn internet… (when i go back to read this, that hint should be enough for me as to what was going on when i wrote it). went to the mall, did a freeze frame, went to mitsuwa with andy tony & dexter (where we took the pic of the Pokémon hat), enjoyed my weekend.

dad came back from japan last sunday and had with him some awesome stuff! 2 cd’s from a band i like (Nirgilis), some anime stuff (:3 yessh), and finally, epic snacks. i asked from something called Tokyo Banana, which is essentially the Japanese version of a Twinkie, substituting cream with banana! thanks to Julie in Japan, or else i may have never known of such an interesting treat. in addition to that, dad brought back these amazing little pastry buns we used to eat when in Japan a few years back. mmm tastes like nostalgia :D

my week has generally been running on coffee and the ability to do hw a period before it is due… so very productive. my lit calls has been mostly working on Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, which is pretty sweet. I’ve been watching a lot of Daria, and went out to try a new fish restaurant which was beautiful beyond all words.

check it out! for secret Santa seminar i got my person a magic 8 ball that responds in txt msgs. try. try to tell me that isn’t awesome.

today i visited Diamond Jamboree for the 2nd time in my life, the first being the prior night. That. Place. Is. AMAZING. I plan on going back many times from now on! my main goal was to find bibombop for Secret Santa Lunchtime. It was a success! I also ran in to Vivian ma, who recommended 85 Degree Bakery. tonight was my last winter concert of high school. it was… a bit anticlimactic to be honest, and a tad upsetting! i broke my E string right before the concert at an earlier practice. my pride and joy- my double wound eudoxa, cracked by my fumble. oh well. otherwise the concert was great! we played 4 songs and saw many familiar faces (francis, artemis, eric, etc). my mom was so proud, and that makes me beam… ill try and post a program later tomorrow.

“About Life” – the sound of far away airplanes

up until now all my posts have been labeled as “Blah Blah Talk” (review), “Tech Talk” (nerdyness), or “Life Update” (my life). this, though, is my first “About Life” post ever, where i muse (more like ramble, or rant) on more worldly, general themes that could easily transcend myself. I've always wanted to do one, and have had plenty of topics on the back burner written down, yet the mood to write deeply was never there. well, the time is right, right now, so I'm going to see where this goes.

there something about the time frame of 11pm to 6am. it’s this weird, period of limbo so to speak, where by convention you surrender yourself to the kingdom of sleep. people who venture out though (staying up for whatever reason) know that the world is a different, more quiet, and sometimes, more wild place. one of my favorite things about the night time is the way sound travels. if you live by train tracks, you might know what i mean. doesn’t the train passing by at night sound dramatically different then during the day? it has to do with air and temperature factors, scientifically speaking. but there’s something, some intangible beauty inherent, that science will not tell you, about the warm growl of a train passing by in the cold, starry night. chanting to no one, ha-rmmmm, ha-rmmm. but something i get even more frequently, is the sound of far away airplanes. that low, yet high, dual ooooowh as a plane leaves the vicinity while the sky is a shade of deep ocean blue and quiet purple. I think of it as a goodbye- the way a plane cries. i really can’t prove that the plane is leaving from the area, but it sure feels that way. it makes me think about leaving in general.

leaving to where? anywhere, for any amount of time. where we have been, we take a little bit from that place, and leave behind a little bit of happiness. it just ties itself to earth. when we go, don't you feel it? when your heart tugs as though a string was still on the air strip as the landing gears retracted? this is my last year home, as I'm going off to college next year along with many friends an acquaintances in the same boat. many, if not all of us will be living away from home. home. i know a few people who can’t wait to get away from home. i used to feel that way. but you’re going to miss it. hell you might already be missing it. the soft orange lights, and dream-esqe blurs of neon color you pass driving down a street you drive down almost every night. every night might become once every 3 months when you visit town. the place where you grew up- you take it for granted sometimes.

in a years time… will i still hear the low whispers of airplanes far away from my room?

maybe it'll be a fog horn instead. or nothing at all.

“Life Update” - small notes on my week, cold weather, tech, a video from youtube

hey party people! s’been a while since i’ve written about what’s going on in my life. well the weather, for one, has been just fantastico! We’ve had a nice streak of 3 or 4 rainy days down here in southern California, which was badly needed. I love the cold air, and i love getting the chance to layer my clothing. (see above picture)! :) dad went to JP for business this Monday and will be back tomorrow or Sunday.

well, i also haven’t slept much recently, reader. i had a good chance to get caught up with all my different AP class workloads, yes some how was able to procrastinate till 6 hours before all the assignments were due. however, the strenuous 14 hours no sleep homework 3 test cram was surprisingly successful! and now that the biggest wave has hit the shore, life doesn’t seem as stressed as it was a few days, huh, HOURS ago!

let me post up some interesting articles and what not now…

mmm yeah yeah, what’s there to talk about. well for one thing, music hosting and listening website IMEEM was taken off-line a few days ago as it fell behind copyright policy payments- lame! Imeem, was one of the few good music site’s i went to look for streaming, embeddable music, but now it’s just another MySpace bitch subsidiary. sigh! (read more here) & here is a nerdy thermodynamics joke. i can believe i just posted that, hahahaha.

now, i personally though this was pretty cool, but its probably my inner science geek coming out. the pictured above is a solar tower, that helps direct light for solar power. renewable energy is really something that people should be more aware, if not involved in. and that goes for the government as well, needing them to recognizing all the power they could harvest at their finger tips. (for the wiki on solar towers, go ahead and click here). here’s a video on the Ontological Paradox. and last but not least… a video with mememolly (shes so fiiiinnnneee) discussing with the creators & actors of the upcoming movie, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. They really like dishing on this whole technology countering/facilitating imagination deal.

“Music Talk” – Boy Rock Mixtape (#1)

hey yaaw, remember how i mentioned something about a mixtape in an earlier post? well, today i had a bit of extra time (just kidding, i just didn't want to study for an AP Chem test) and ended up making a short 40 minute mixtape. Ok, well, there isn’t really such a thing as remix Tuesday, but i just happen to be posting up a lot of music today that happens to be remixed!

THEN I WAS DEVISTATED… i read there that Mayu is leaving the band at the end of 2009. This is, well it just is upsetting. I had hi hopes that they would do a US tour and I'd get to see them. I’m not scheduled to go to Japan this year either, so… what could of been. Love you Mayu, you will be missed!

this is a dedicated music post. a lot of music has been piling up with me recently and I need to get at least some of it down before it starts getting so backed up i have a hard time remembering how and why these songs are being posted… i actually do a lot of these dedicated type music posts and from now on will be labeled as “MUSIC TALK” & be labeling all my other posts under genres, too! it seems to be a natural evolution, blogger style. well anyway, lets get on this music deal.

(http://www.myspace.com/sugarplant2008) Sugar Plant. This is a very indie, very underground shoegaze / ambient/ alternative / dreampop / slowcore band from Japan. It is almost impossible to find anything on them, and download any of their music. And they are one of my most favorite bands of all time. Their song “Rise” gives me chills. like crazy. They are featured on one of my favorite movies of all time as well- Fumihiko Sori’s Ping Pong. Here, ill post the trailer so you can get a feel for it. The story is about friendships and broken dreams in a nut shell- it’s very aesthetic. Also, Ping Pong may have one of the best OST’s of all time and is a personal all time favorite of mine. if you listened to “Rise” (i sure hope you did!) here’s a live version for you to enjoy…

SO GOOD I POSTED THE VIDEO! This is “Smoke Get’s in Your Eyes” & is a good example of his strong , angelic voice. if your more interested in instrumentals, check out “Lost on the Brian Ferry” which reminds of shoegaze.

"Life Update" - SATs (again?), Knotts, ice skating, and finally, “on a rainy Monday”

last Friday, i got all the cd’s i ordered from polyvinyl! joy! <3
the guy who filled my order and was super nice! he knew i loved seksu so he threw in a free pin :D besssst damn label ever!!!

last Saturday i had the pleasure of taking yet another SAT! what made it so much more enjoyable though was that 1) it was totally unnecessary 2) required a late fee (making to total close to $60) and 3) an almost perfect bombing! that entire passage was written sarcastically. im going to look into cancelation tomorrow.

HOWEVER! the day did not suck the goat’s balls as hard as you would think, reader! my tousan/父さん/father had his annual holiday dinner/lunch at knots this Saturday too. originally i asked my brother to go with me, but coincidently he was already going that same day with andrea, andrea’s, friend and blackmar! wtf coincidence for the wan! i ended up taking christian and we essentially had the most bomb diggity time ever. this is maybe in my top 3 visits to knotts, and ive been to knotts A LOT :D. seriously though, knotts is like a disneyland for so-cal locals in my opinion. disney can get kind of played out if you live in the area sadly D: i tried supreme scream for the first time that day and went on ghost rider at least 3 times! we event took an awesome picture, as you saw earlier! anyway, i got home at about 11, and stayed up till like 330am talking to my one friend tracy about music. originally i was going to sleep at 12, but when i get started with music you guys know what happens (ill bee shooting down more info and track on all that music stuff later…)

Sunday i wake up at 12.55am, 5 minutes before I'm supposed to go ice skating with him, kat, kalvin, and michi (who organized the whole thing). despite being late and thankfully (thanks mom!) being able to catch a ride from mum, i successfully beat the other 3 in the race to get to Anaheim Ice! they session was great as iI do love love love ice skating! but what was really nice was spending most of the day with michi, and getting two boxes of Pocky for $2.15 :D we also hit up lollicup, which was real nice for an after skating mocha boba drink and stupid spicy chicken side snack.

“…and on a rainy monday!” ever hear that song before? i would hope you would recognize the band at least, if you’ve read this blog since at least 3 months ago, because i had a whole post dedicated to some photography and Shiny Toy Guns. well anyway, as the post is being written on a Monday, you can guess today was sunny and dry as hell, NOT. SHEESH was like a friggin tropical storm of fruits without fruits! literally, it was drops the size of small pebbles (the kind in fish tanks) that blew through the day relentlessly, except for about 3.00pm for a short break where the sky broke threw and reveled an azure blue and rainbow. pix are up off this great day. as you all remember i love the rain, and i love the days after the rain, so this weather is expected to go on for another few days :) i unfortunately did not have my camera, but it sufficed to use the built in one in my phone!

well, annnaawaaay… im in the middle of my AP Econ notes right now but decided it would be a nice break putting down some link’s and world events piling up thing on my “Things To Post” post-it. SO LES GEDDAWN and see what has been on my backburner these past days.

when i first saw this,
i pretty much had to go get a wet paper towel. why? because my face had melted off from the sheer awesome, and got all over my nice, spill-proof keyboard. props to alex, who posted this up on her posterous a few days ago, where I originally saw it.

last thing I want to post about is DX11. for you non-nerds out there, DX11 is the newest DirectX graphics engine currently being worked on. What this means is a significant step up in the graphic quality of video games to those at home. the big word of the day for DX11 is tessellation. simply put, tessellation essentially makes pointy, blocky, shity polygons smooth… here is an example in the improvements in said polygon rendering. and below is what DX11 is suspected to become. that game preview should be very similar in terms of quality to actual game play then. to me, that is just ridiculous, playing in a game that almost looks like a movie. the lighting is magnifico, and the smoke effects are great, and hey! tessellation is at work! i can’t see a chunky discontinuity on a plane anywhere! :D

Anime Talk: Bleach: Memories of Nobody

herro! It’s been a while since I've done any kind of review, but don’t fret! I have a bunch of things on the backburner that I've just been procrastinating on ,for like, evaaaar. well, i’ve found some free time and decided to throw down on a Bleach movie I saw a few weeks ago… (thumbnail cap credit to novastorm).

Bleach: Memories of Nobody is the first movie based on the series & was released in December 2006 to JP theaters. It is set in the same universe as the anime and takes place somewhere in the Shinigami Arc (Rukia’s first encounter with Ichigo, all the way to Aizen's emergence into Hueco Mundo), for those of you who have watched the series. Memories of Nobody chronicles the mysterious events of the expanding Valley of Screams (the space between Soul Society and The Living World). This, and the sudden appearance of souls know as “blanks” all seemed to be connected to an elusive shinigami Rukia and Ichigo encounter in the city. Her name is Senna, and her fate is somehow connected to a legendary stature known as The Memory Rosary…

FALCON ELBOOOOOOOW!!!

Before i go any farther DING DING DING THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS. THAT, is what Urahara is saying in that (<<<<<<) picture. Memories of Nobody is a self-contained movie that seems to be targeted at those familiar with the series. I wouldn’t go so far as to note it as a cash cow film, because it does have some valid moments in its running, BUT in no way is this film of substance to the anime. Essentially, if you want to see a movie that is entertaining, well animated, and somewhat of a heart wrenching rollercoaster… this is the movie for you! (It was definitely the movie for me hahaha :3) I will go over 4 aspects of the film: characters, plot, animation, soundtrack.

Don’t…fucking…cry D:

Mmm, the characters! We see the preservation of all of the anime’s returning characters in this film. We have classic Ichigo- cool, slightly contempt, and stronger then a triple shot expresso on crack-cocaine. Like I said, classic ichigo. Rukia also maintains that quirky attitude, and voice of reason Ichigo seems to lack at times. Kon is there, titty grabby as usual, & Urahara is there with the gang. One thing i would like to note is that Chad, Orihime, and Ishida have virtually no screen time, save a scene where Ichigo has to get his beat-down-ass healed. The two protagonists of the movie are then effectively Ichigo and Senna. Ah, that's right! Senna. Her trademark is a red ribbon used to pull her hair up, while her catlike golden-rye eyes serve as a very defining physical trait. The bubbly teenage girl, whose whimsical and care free demeanor masks a darker past, is a kind of foil to Ichigo’s reserved behavior. She is very “go-with-the-flow” as we see her lead Ichigo on a chase to an outdoor mall for kicks, & then eventually tight rope walk above a crowd of people. In another scene she takes it upon herself to care for a lost boy till they find his father, despite Ichigo bluntly telling the youngster, “Your Dad’s probably in Heaven.” Senna is a great, fresh dynamic, to keep the movie entertaining with cute, and funny character interactions, while serving as a very suave element for plot progression. Her developing relationship with Ichigo also caught my eye, making for a very “DAAAYUM, LOOK AT THAT PARING” emotion. So, that dark past of Senna I earlier spoke of, essentially manifests itself in the bad guys- The Antagonists. The bad guys, are pretty convenient to be honest. The "Dark Ones", a group of exiles from the Soul Society seeking revenge for being shut the hell down during some kind of civil war pop-up and snatch Senna for there own diabolical plans. DUN DUN DUN! And to help with such a group of trouble makers, we see the injection of the Gotei 13 (The 13 Captains) rocking out with their Bankai out, which I'm sure was the writers catering to hungry hungry fan’s of shinigami action scenes. Overall, a refined character selection, that focused on Ichigo and Senna, while keeping the Gotei, Rukia, and others minimally evasive, allowed for a very crisp plot progression. But this same crispness does not leave much room for any dynamic character development, or character depth at that, severely limiting the potential quality of the film.

Plot wise, the movie was damn clean & strait forward, and I enjoyed it very much. A very solid exposition on the Memory Rosary, while playing off the already well recognized elements of the anime, such as The Valley of Screams, allowed for many interesting, and entertaining, insights to the other portions of the Bleach universe. There are zero plot holes in the movie, and it is self contained meaning there would be no back-contamination to the series. MMM, consistency- TASTES GOOD! :D There was a very nice build up of action as more and more seemed to be revealed, concerning the ties of Senna to the Memory Rosary, and The Valley of Screams. And right when everything seems to come togethe…SNATCHED THEY GOT SENNA. Now that is commercial writing at it’s best.

Quality explosions up in this…

The animation was great in my opinion. That classic shaky camera, motion-blurry, defocusing element was used just enough times to give it that Bleach feel, if you know what i mean. I’d like to add that the level of detail in the city, such as its inhabitants & buildings, were done very well. There were a lot of visually memorable moments in Memories of Nobody, such as the dimensional bridge gate, the firing of the spirit cannon, the famous tightrope walk scene, and the bleak streets where Ichigo carries Senna to her.... *sniff, gulp, :(* final destination. The emotional context developed in the plot complimented the aesthetics of these moments. Finally the soundtrack. I was presently surprised when I heard the scoring of “Senna” used as Senna’s theme, hahahah man that was clever. You get that classic cheesy 90’s rock Motown battle theme too, which is kind of nostalgic if you watch the series. There is great use of new orchestrated pieces, to really develop the artistic scenes I mentioned in animation. There’s this one track overlaying Senna leading Ichigo and a lost boy through town, while taking in the beauty of the city. That was just great, and probably one of my favorite parts. Another notable thing, was the ending theme, which was essentialy a perfect way to end a “GOD WHY *tears* , BUT ITS OKAY! Sort of D:” film.

Overall, I liked the movie a lot. It was a great excursion and completely self contained. I knew it was great because I was still thinking about it the following day. Another thing is i’m the romantic type, so the subtle romantic bond between Senna and Ichigo was a rollercoaster for me. Sadly they can never be! DAMN YOU TIED UP ENDING, DAMN YOU! This is not something everyone HAS to see, but if they do it will definitely be an enjoyable afternoon, or whenever you watch it. So holistically speaking, I would rate, Bleach: Memories of Nobody, with a mighty 3.5 stars! I’ll miss you Senna, cameos will never do you justice.

Thanksgiving and the five day weekend

Thanksgiving and The Five Day Weekend could easily be a band name in my opinion, but so could Rolle’s Theorem and The Second Derivative hahah. Now whenever I think of exponential graphs I hear Christian saying “HOLY SHIFT! LOOK AT THE ASSMTOTE ON THAT MOTHER FUNCTION!” (^^^^^I have a feeling this is the face he would of made while saying it. haaaaaa !!!)

So this week has had a lot of pretty intense things going on. It started off kind of shitty because of how poorly i was doing in chem and how much i was struggling to keep up in my other classes like gov and eng. Well it all pretty much was voided when i found out my Nov SAT II Math Lv. II Score…. 760 AWW YEAH! I know it’s not perfect, but I'm really proud of how well I did. I’m hoping that this will help me lock down a place in the UCB Engineering College.

Wednesday, christo, bro, africa, and I all went to see The Fantastic Mr. Fox, a movie that I heard christ talking about for like a month. I must say I was presently surprised at the film. I wasn’t expecting much but WOW! The animation was just great and I can see why it was in production for FIVE years. You don’t see too many great stop animation films nowadays, or any in that matter. I’ll try and write up a full review for MR. Fox later. (Yeah I still have that Children of Men review on the backburner… ooops). Later that night bro, africa, and I visited the Citibank park to check out the 5 story tree. It’s beautiful.

Thursday was thanksgiving and it was brutal as hell. I seriously ate for 25 hours strait. Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast. None of those words meant a thing this weekend. It was don’t stop till you get enough. I felt very piggish. Alicia, Sena, Tera, and Tera’s BF Bryan came over @ 3.00 pm to eat, and mom and dad were kickin it too. Alicia brought over really good eggnog with brandy, whiskey, and rum in it, so i had some of that. i drank a whole bottle of blubbery soda too. and i mean the big wine sized bottles haha. Alicia passed out on the couch all red- it was so lol. the funniest thing i heard was when bryan looked at his plate before eating and said “I’m so going to murder this.”

Later that night i finally finished Eden of The East and HOLY MOTHER FUCKING TITTIES IT WAS AMAZING! MY BRAIN WAS BLOWN UUT ON THE SCREEEEEEEEN! I’ll be doing a review of it shortly.

Friday (today) I woke up at 3 to go blackfridaying with kalvin at target. It was pretty much whipskids for days and bumping into familiar faces. I saw Amuary like 3 GOD DAMN TIMES, THAT TRICK! Hopefully well both be in Berkeley and i get to see just as much. Kalvin got a camera for his mom & later in the day I visited Zac to have lunch with him on his break from work. Dood’s a trooper working blackfriday. Later in the afternoon I checked out frames at citygrounds & ended the day working on my last UC prompt.

Congressional Reform Act

Congressional Reform Act:

1. Term Limits: 12 years only -Two Six year Senate terms and six Two Year House terms

2. No Tenure / No Pension: A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security: All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates equally with the American people in the Social Security system.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.

5. Congress will no longer be able to vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress looses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide in and by all laws they impose on the States and the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/11. The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

“Les Miserables”, the gang unit, fall rally, Knotts, kick off to thanksgiving break

oh man oh man oh man, where to start! the past few days have just been great… starting with my schools drama production of “Les Miserables.” The classic tale of Jean Valjean’s heroic rise from the recesses of criminal prejudice. Frankie played an amazing lead, and Timmy, Xio, Alex, Victor, Anum, David, etc etc etc, all did a great job. THE SET, GOOD LORD IT WAS AMAZING. I was very impressed with how well they were able to put the settings into such limited space via the use of skilled, and clever, lighting. as an added bonus i got to see artemis and amanda fro college. us three and amauri talked about starving college students. it was fantasticoooo…

on the way home from the play that night, we stuffed armando in the trunk of bromar’s car. THE DAMN TRUNK. It was hahaha, one of the funnies… things we have ever done. It got kind of sketchy though when we, well, stopped abruptly in armando’s neighborhood and had him pop out of the trunk, with 5 Gang Unit Patrol Cars behind us. It was super super, OMG SHITTTT, and OMG LOLOLOL all at the same time. It was hysterical in my opinion hahaha, but it could have ended badly, have a kid pop out of you trunk in front of 5 cops. we (omar zac christ and I) spent the rest of the night bumming around.

fall rally was the next morning, and f’ing great! we had the flag going, and the shirts kalvina nd alyssa, a nd I had made were being sported throughout the club. I got to see a lot of familiar faces: mary, zhengster, kelly, josephine, cam, and some unnamed cutie I first saw back at Spirit Day! we won the spirit stick at the rally (GO JET!) and pretty much made the segerstrom presence known to all.

knotts afterwards was just a party. we hit ghost rider twice, and like all the roller coasters. i even tried Paraless Plunge for the first time, it was so dam cold being drenched hahahaha… durring the day at the park i got to catch up with steph & ate the most amazing hotdog place ever. and fried chicken place later that day. Pink’s and Chicken Dinner To-Go. Sweet mother’fn titties it was good eats.

today, tuseday, i had a great kick off to the 5 day thanksgiving weekend. the morning started off shitty though, after hiding in B building till mom brought some thing i forgot at home. I was late to 2nd period, and didn’t do the chem test. I might of failed. then next period i had a word root test, and i probably got a low c on that for not having time to study all the terms. but then, my day exploded with optimism. the 24th is the day SAT nov scores come out. for my math level II, i… I SCORED A 760/800. OH GOD IM CLOSERER TO GET INTO BERKELEY! With a math score that high, it makes me stand out pretty significantly since im aiming for engineering undeclared as my UCB major! I ran through the rest of the day with a big grin, and pushed through my Calc chapter 3 test pretty easily.
afterschool i made up an FRQ for gov, saw some friends and did some work @ a kiwins bored meeting, and bum’d around the rest of the day with Zac and Christ. we were out till about 1030 just having a great time, watching tv, making food… gong to the World Market (one of the coolest stores ever). I even got to see this lame kid named lexxie that night, who i haven’t seen in over a few months :) we both still have our braces, which is just great. and after that, i bumped into david heranadez, anum, and xio at the OCPAC on my way home! They had just seen “Spring Revival”. and to top it all off, i saw the commercial districts 4 story Christmas tree light up. it was beautiful. i was so angry i didn’t have my camera to get shots of it! but im going back tomorrow with my brother to see bask in its magnificence once again. and finally, the night ended here at my computer, somewhat toasty and nostalgic about the day’s past events. (i hate braces- but lexxie pulls them off pretty well)

check it out, i think it was like last night or the night before, where i kind of singled in on how i wanted to build up my next bike. its a purple pake track frame (my other choice was a volume cutter) with silver deep v’s. I'm a bit hesitant though- i don't want to be ridding this thing off stairs then have it suddenly crack.

random fact: i like these names for girls, and might name a daughter one of these: hanna marrie, desire, sadie, madeline, josephine.

last random fact: i wish ash and misty would get together. it’s so annoying in their last episode when ash is dumb as hell and lets her go. near the end of the episode misty gives ash a handkerchief, which in Japanese culture mean a girl cares for a boy, A LOT.

sick day, big plans, more music, some tech

cheeeese man. i’m home right now. it’s so weak. i think i was up till about 5am last night, and tried taking a two hour nap before going to school, but it didn’t work. i woke up feeling pretty shitty… i realized that even though i wasn’t super sick, i was super fatigued. why go to school if i was going to sleep through class. michy said that teachers get pissed when kids sleep in class, because its like your trying to do something and someone ignores you- and i like my teachers! so i decided to stay home.

so what's up for today izzy? big plans, big plans! well before anything though, ill be working on my UC apps and personal statement. Ill also try and catch up on any hw i’ve been slow on in the next two hours. im going to then take a shower, then bike to school to catch an NHS meeting and get some app review from my counselor. later tonight i’ll go to see Les Misrables, and then fall rally is tomorrow! so itll be a pretty full weekend- both a blessing and a curse with all the stress of college coming to an apex November 30.

Ever hear of Blonde Redhead? The only person i’ve ever heard mention this band was Stephanie N, but she’s musical like damn, so im not sure if there are any bands she hasn’t heard of. I only have one album of theirs at the moment, “23”. My favorite two songs from it are probably the first 2: “23” & “Dr. Strangeluv”. The intro of “23” reminds me heavily of The Radio Dept. which is another great band.

next band- Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. I know i mentioned them a few posts ago, but i wanted to show off another one of their songs and the hella tight music video that goes along with it. Enjoy! This is “Modern Mystery”.

One last musical thing i want to throw down is a song by My Chemical romance that I haven’t heard in a while. “Early Sunsets Over Monroeville”. Monroeville, if i’m not mistaken, is where the original Dawn of The Dead movie takes place, written by zombie master George Romero.

ok, and now for some technology. DAM! when was the last time i wrote about tech… anyway, beholde’th the Google Wave, quite possibly the next step of evolution in internet communications. More or less its a redesigned cloud type interface forum deal. Next is NVidia’s RealityServer, which is exactly what it sounds like 0_o . It uses advanced ray tracing technology to pretty much render almost 100% accurately light pictures, which is the hardest thing to do in the digital world. A good way to explain it is… a computer following the path of trillions of photons of light, all in seconds.
